Alissa’s new room

I get in these obsessive moods where I’ll spend hours searching for things and right now it’s stuff for Alissa’s new room. I knew I wanted to do pinks and blues. It started out more of coral and light blue, but I’m having a HARD time finding anything that matches those colors that I like. Because her current stuff doesn’t match (curtains and bed stuff), I want to just go crazy and have fun. I want her room to reflect HER…girly and fun! I’ve started collecting frames that I am going to paint blues and pinks and have a fun wall but my mind gets overwhelmed. I want it to be perfect and all go great together and I KNOW it will, but I still obsess. This is what I have come up with so far…it’s a start. I found a fun idea on Pinterest where you paint old shutters and then clip pictures, art and more on there! I also want to do that…one more month and I can put it all together!

UPDATE: I’m so excited…I went to Lowe’s today to pick up some paint because I wanted to find some paint swatches and paint for the frames. For me, this is hard. I usually look and look and put back and change my mind and look some more. But I walked in, grabbed two pink cards, quickly realized I liked one better and then grabbed a blue one to match. I was going to have them mix me up some little 8 oz tubs of these colors but they just so happened to have almost the EXACT same colors already mixed! I was shocked and excited it all just came together like that (it usually doesn’t.) I also want to do the kids rooms gray (and would love to do my house gray, but that isn’t going to happen. I grabbed the first one I liked and I’m sticking to it! I can’t wait! The colors below are a little off because it was an Instagram picture I changed up a little bit…but you get the idea. It’s going to be so cute!

Update for some other stuff I want to do in Alissa’s room. This is the cute shutter idea that I found HERE. If I get lucky, I’ll find something at DI for cheap and paint it just the right color I want!

I want to do some fun pom poms like I found HERE.

And a fun wall gallery like THIS.

So I’m excited, it should turn out cute! I need to find some fun boy room ideas. Zach loves to have posters and pictures of things he likes, so it would be fun to do a similar wall with Star Wars, Ratchet and Clank and Legos! But girls rooms are just so much funner ;)

The shutters are a great idea! I see them all the time at our antique outlet store and I always want to buy them but never knew what I woul do with them. Have fun doing her room. Love the colors!

Ginny – I really like the font on your original “my smiles” artwork. You said you copied it from Pintrest. I looked but cant find it. Can you tell me the font name or where to find it. We have purchased contact paper and I am ready to use the projector and cut these letters out.

Hey Dawn, I’m not sure how this comment got onto my blog LOL. I am not Ginny and I wasn’t the original maker of that oh so cute saying on the wall, so I don’t know the font :) The girl who did the room was: http://ginnyphillipsphotography.com/blog/?p=430
